It looks like clothes aren't just for wearing anymore... A German textile research center is developing garments that can smell nice, like vanilla-scented underwear or t-shirts that have vitamin C. A fibre has been developed that has a substance that turns into Vitamin C when it comes in contact with skin.
"Various techniques are applied in the production of bio-functional textiles. One method involves simply putting the substance on the surface of the material," said Hans-Juergen Buschmann, a chemist at the research center.
But what happens when the garment is washed? Manufacturers offer packets that can be emptied onto the garments to replenish the vitamins or scents. It's been advised that people with skin problems or allergies avoid these types of garments.
So, what's next, clothes that you can eat?
