
Last week the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) held a ceremony to celebrate the the renovated sewing and cutting facility. The facility will have a GERBER cutter and spreader which will provide students a view of the product development and manufacturing process. The lab was funded by a $500,000 appropriation from the City Council
"This new sewing and cutting lab is the kind of state-of-the-art facility that college presidents crave for their campuses. It says to our students: the future is here; the future is yours," said FIT's president Dr. Joyce F. Brown.*
Gerber develops and manufactures software and hardware automation systems for manufacturers and retailers in the sewn products and flexible materials industries. FIT is a college of art and design, business, and technology located in New York. Gerber and FIT have worked together for over 25 years to bring the latest technology to the students.
