
Japan held its second Japan Fashion Week 2006 and it looks like the
world is starting to take notice. According to an article at Zee News, Tokyo has lagged behind the fashion capitals like Paris and New York, but is setting sights on climbing the ranks of the fashion industry.
"We fashion designers are still struggling to establish the identity of Tokyo on the global fashion scene. But we're almost there. Sometime in the very near future fashion and style from Tokyo will explode onto the scene," said designer, Takeshi Mori. *
The article stated that people who attended the fashion week were concerned that Japanese designers are still too much of trend followers.
