They say that a "picture paints a thousand words" and in the world of fashion, a name paints alot of money! Think of Martha Stewart, Disney, or Elizabeth Taylor, or Donald Trump. They made agreements with companies to have their names put on products and in turn have received royalties from all sales of those products.
Licensing in the fashion industry is very common. Isaac Mizrahi just signed a footwear license with The Fashion House and the collection will make its debut at the Fashion Footwear Association of New York this coming June.
The key is to build a name for yourself first!
