Surprise, surprise - Walmart is doing it again. Awhile back I talked about Walmart and a new women's clothing line. Now Walmart has announced that it will be introducing a new urban menswear: "Exsto". The clothing line will come out this summer in July 2006 and targets men from 18 -35 years old.
"With the addition of Exsto, we can better serve a distinct segment of our customer base by offering a true young men's brand with a sense of urban flair. Exsto mirrors the design and quality of urban brands offered in department stores at the excellent value customers expect from Wal-Mart," said Andy Barron, Wal-Mart's Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Men's Apparel.*
Walmart is working on differentiating the company in the area of apparel. It plans on opening a New York "trend office" that will be responsible for identifying the latest trends so that the company can integrate them into its existing apparel brands.
Who'd ever think I'd put "Walmart", "Fashion", and "Style" in the same sentence?
