I'm not a big Walmart shopper, but the times that I have shopped
there I've noticed how "frumpy" their clothes look to me. Hope I didn't offend anybody - that's just my opinion! I have, in fact, bought a couple of basic clothing items at Walmart - but I shop there more for household items.
Well, I just read an article at Marketwatch.com that says Walmart is coming out with better-looking and more durable apparel items which will be targeting consumers like me who just go in for a few staple items, but buy nothing more than that. Their Metro 7 line is claimed to be more fashion forward and better-made. I'll have to check it out for myself...
"It was a very important experiment to try to offer fashion-forward merchandise to the customer," said Stephen Quinn, Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s senior vice president of marketing . "We found that if you make the fashion apparel available to them, they will buy it."**
