A question that came to me today is: What determines fashion? Here are the answers that I came up with...
Mainstream fashion is determined by what's seen on the runway. When I say mainstream fashion, I mean the clothes you see on your average Mary Mall Walker. Of course, not everybody can afford those luxurious pieces we see at the fashion shows, so we settle for the next best thing which can be found at retailers such as BeBe, Guess, BCBG, etc.
Ultimately - as I get a little philosophical - fashion is determined and comes from the mind and creativity of the designer. Designers are the ones who set the tone for what trends will be popping up next season. Of course, the media creates buzz for things they like or dislike - which influences our decision of what to or not to buy.
For me, I've always just gone with whatever I liked - whether or not it was the "in" thing to wear.... What about you?
