A Fashion Niche in the Muslim World

Al Quds has designed a new line of jeans which it claims to make it more comfortable for Muslims to pray.  They're high on the waist, wide around the leg, and have many pockets.  The jeans are manufactured at a plant near Karachi, Pakistan.  About 9,500 pairs of jeans have been made and sold to a French retailer called Carrefour SA.  The jeans sell for about $30.

Leonie Barrie calls it the "most bizarre fashion launch of 2006", but I must say that Al Quds jeans found a niche in the Muslim world and we'll just have to see what happens. Nike is making comfortable clothing for the women, so it only makes sense to do something similar.
