Executives of Saks Fifth Avenue will be meeting today to plan entry into China where there seems to be much growth in commerce and the economy. The store is set to open in Shanghai and will be one of the first American department stores to enter the region. Luxury retailers like Cartier and Hermes have already established foothold in China.
It will be interesting to see how or if Western ideas and trends will affect Eastern culture. It seems that China is a very conservative society. Will American fashion influence Chinese fashion?
