Apparel executives from all over the world met this week during the "Material World" trade show in Miami. But the price of importing clothing wasn't the hot topic - it was the speed at which they received apparel. In the fast world of fashion, getting a shipment late could cost a company millions of dollars. This is especially true for trendy apparel.
There are no longer limits as to the amount of apparel a country can export to the United States. This has caused a great deal of competition between countries such as China and India where apparel is less expensive. But now these countries won't be competing on price, they'll be competing on speed as well.
