The other day I talked about ElleGirl discontinuing their offline print
magazine. Well, it looks like there are other magazine publishers following suit. Condé Nast is trying to build its web presence as well with a newly launched site called Brides.com. There is another teenage site that they are building as well.
With the wedding season just around the corner, Condé Naste is hiring a full team to manage Brides.com as well as the other web editors for their portfolio of 29 magazines.
My concern is what this shift from offline print to the Internet will cost to the consumer. As of right now the information is free on the Internet, but will they start charging for online viewing? I personally like the idea of being able to carry my magazines around in case I need something to read while I wait at the doctor's or wait at the airport for my flight, etc. I hope that magazine publishers don't stop printing offline material....
