Let's face it, not everyone can indulge in haute couture, so I thank
God that designers have come out with "cheaper" versions of their brand. For example Donna Karan's, DKNY line makes it easier to be fashionable while allowing me to eat every month. :) Then there's Miu Miu, the off-shoot of Prada and Dolce & Gabanna's D&G.
According to an article at Telegraph Fashion, these second lines still have the same weight as their "older sisters", but allow the designers to make more money and become more mainstream without sacrificing quality. Because we all know that you make the most money if you sell to the masses...
The article also lists the "Seven of the Best" baby sister brands:
Cheap & Chic by Moschino
Marc by Marc Jacobs
Miu Miu by Prada
Paul & Joe Sister - by French designer Sophie Albou
D&G by Dolce & Gabanna
Paul Smith "Pink"
CK by Calvin Klein
