
Laura Ashley, famous for its floral prints in the home and apparel
industries, has announced a 39% rise in annual profits and will be paying out a dividend to its shareholders for the first time in nine years.
The company has decided to cut down on the fashion and focus more on the home furnishings side of the business. They had to cut about 450 jobs because of the move, but I think it was a smart decision.
Anytime there are job cutbacks involved, I'm a little disturbed, but hey - I do believe that everything happens for a reason. Fashion is a huge industry, so I know they won't have a hard time finding another job.
