There are many companies who still deny exploiting kids in the
manufacturing of their products, but I think many of them do know and don't really care. I've read here and there that companies "have no control" of what happens overseas - but is that true? There are many ways that they can control it - they just choose not to spend the money to do it.
If they are so against kids working, why not give the adults $1 more per hour so they don't have to make their kids work? It's not like they make alot of money to begin with. So, they make $2 an hour now... That's nothing compared to minimum wage in the U.S.
Actually, on the flip side, some of these kids choose to work. They want to help out the family. Most cultures in the third world adopt a collective way of doing things, meaning everybody works together to help the family, including the kids. This is in contrast to the American culture where we think individually and parents are ready to push the kids out of the nest at an early age.
