
Who knew that a bale of wool could cost so much? The finest bale of wool of 11.7 micron was recently sold to the Italian fashion house, Loro Piana, for $63,000. Loro Piana owns 83 stores worldwide and distributes luxury sportswear for men, women, and children.
In case you didn't know, (which I didn't until now) one micron is a
thousandth of a millimeter. Pictured here was a bale from 2004 that was worth about $752,000 and sat in the vault of the National Australia Bank in Brisbane.
Well, no wonder Ugg boots are a pretty penny :) Hmm... maybe I should get into the sheep business...
