The fourth part in this series will cover the topic of positioning your fashion products to sell...
So, you've got something to sell. But before you hit the pavement, it's important to come up with a strategy that defines your company and where you will position yourself in the marketplace. The fashion industry is a huge billion dollar market! Where do you see yourself fitting in?
There are many types of markets and distribution systems in the fashion industry:
* High fashion - couture
* Wholesale
* Business to business (a.k.a. B-2-B)
* Mass distribution to retailers
* Specialty shops
Your product could succeed in one market and fail in another. It may be to your advantage to test a couple markets out at first. You may find that you can sell in a few markets.
In positioning your product, these are elements to consider:
* what the norm is for buying, selling, and marketing of your type of product(s)
* the value and benefits the product brings to your buyer
* attend trade shows to see what the competition is doing
* findi an unrepresented niche in the marketplace
