When Geox Shoes first came out, the kids would come into the
Nordstrom Kids Shoes department demanding the "shoes that breathe!" Geox sure did a great job with their advertising campaign on Nickelodeon....
What makes these shoes so unique is that they do indeed breathe. The shoes have holes in the rubber outsole which makes it easier for air to circulate. If your kids have very sweaty feet (as most kids do), Geox is a great shoe for them... The insole is made of a gortec material that prevents water from seeping into the shoe. For an explanation of their patented shoe, visit the Geox website.
The founder of Geox, Mario Polegato stumbled upon this idea when he was hiking and
realized how hot his feet were getting in his boots. He took a knife and punched holes in the bottom of his boots...and there you have it - a million dollar idea!
Geox makes shoes and apparel for kids, women, and men. Their shoes now occupy stores around the world with the main headquarters in Italy. According to a report at fibre2fashion.com, consolidated sales for the company increased 34% in 2005. For more sales figures, read the report here...
