This week's Carnivale of Couture is being hosted by Clothesaholic....or, as the Manolo would say, the "Super Fantastic" Clothesaholic. The theme is Clothes on Film... and the question is:
" What movie, TV show or video featured clothes that made an impression on you? What movie, TV or video wardrobe did you try to emulate?"
Two movies come to mind immediately:
First, Madonna in "Desperately Seeking Susan". Watching this movie
as a young, impressionable diva, I turned into a real life Rosanna Arquette, desperately seeking to emulate Madonna. From the teased bangs to the gloves and lacy accessories - oh, yes, the "Material Girl" was born.
After Madonna came my "Breakfast Club/Sixteen Candles" stage in which Molly
Ringwald was my fashion icon. I had a ton of brooches, hats, and button-up collared shirts. I dreamed of my knight in a sports car coming to pick me up so we could celebrate my birthday sitting on the dining room furniture and having our first kiss over my birthday cake....
Unfortunately, I don't have anything to show for these fashionable chapters in my life :(
