Also, as someone who has tried way too many times to guess what will sell, I can tell you that it’s not always a good thing because sometimes I think things will sell that I really don’t like making...
I’m not saying that designers should not be aware of fashion trends. In fact, I think this is helpful and important, but it should not totally guide your designing direction."
I often get caught up thinking too much about what others would like instead of making jewelry that I like. I end up not enjoying the process and that's the whole point of creating and being an artist - it's to enjoy the process! It's about creating and designing pieces that you would be proud to wear yourself...and coming out with fresh, new ideas...
