According to Reuters, via The New York Times (free registration), Eddie Bauer is seeking a buyer. Sales last year dropped and it seems that customers didn't respond well to changes in its product mix.

According to analysts, Eddie Bauer didn't distinguish itself from competitors like Land's End and LLBean, companies that cater to people who like outdoor-type clothing.
On a side note, how does Land's End or LLBean distinguish itself from the competition? I haven't seen anything from either of those companies that makes them stand out. I've never bought anything from either company, so I'm just curious to know...because from a marketing standpoint, they're all the same to me!
