Plus-Size Clothing and Marketing

Jen of Plus Sizes Lingerie Store Blog left a comment today on my postplus_size.jpg "Plus Size Clothing Sees A Boost In Sales".  So, naturally, I went to check out her site to find out more about Jen's business....

Well, upon arriving at Jen's blog, I clicked on one of her Google ads on the left-hand column of the blog.  I was brought to this website.  Now, is it just me or are there only skinny women in lingerie on the front page of this website?  Not one plus-size model pictured.  Yes, this company does sell plus-size lingerie, but wouldn't it make sense to add a plus-size model on the homepage? A plus-size woman coming to this website may not even look further and assume that the lingerie being offered is only for "skinny" women.

Silly, it's for men.

It's funny you should say that because I noticed this M.A.C ad that was very risque, for lack of a better word, and I thought, "Did M.A.C change their target market to men?" Having a half-naked women in a makeup ad didn't make sense to me... But I must remember that there are women who like women (duh!)

I had the smae thought when i recently got a catalog from the plus size clothing company 'Silhouettes".. Not a single one of their models was over a size 10. Some were between a 6 and and 8. They call that plus? I would know... I am a fashion designer...
I called them. They had some walking shorts I really liked but the model showing them was a sixe 6.. I am sorry but how am I supposed to imagine how a garnment is going to look on my size 18-20 thighs when I am looking on how it fits and drapes on a really tiny body...
I am sorry, but I cannot.
I want to see how the clothes look with thighs, a butt and boobs like mine inside of them.
If I wanted to look at skinny chick clothing I would go to the Neiman Marcus catalog!
I have noticed a down shifting trend in the modeling industry.. it seems that now, size 6 is a plus-size model lol
You did not watch that on project runway?
Size 6 is ZAFTIG!!!!!!
They are insane!
Much love,
