I often go to the local flea market here in San Diego and lately I've noticed quite a few vendors selling counterfeit goods. For instance, there was someone last weekend selling fake Coach bags and Seven jeans. The bags were so blatantly fake, but the jeans...it was hard to tell. I felt like yelling "Citizens Arrest!" just for the fun of it. Apparently, the San Diego police don't care too much about counterfeits being sold there because it's been going on for years now.
I came across some information from this website that offers tips on how to avoid counterfeit products:
- Avoid House Parties, Office Parties & Hotel Sales
- Avoid Buying Name Brand Products at Fairs and Street Festivals
- Be Cautious of Brand Names Sold at Flea Markets and Swap Meets
- Beware of Goods that Lack Proper Markings
- Beware of Goods Where Country of Origin Identification is Missing
