Interview with Designer Ella, CEO of Lipped Media Part 2

Pay attention, dear aspiring fashion bloggers, in continuation of my interview with Designer Ella we will learn what it takes to be successful in the world of fashion writing.  Again, for those of you who missed out on the first part of the interview, check it out here...

What have you learned about fashion blogging? -- It has to be of-the-moment. Trends and news matter. And if you misspell a designer name or skip a fact check, people will care. Fashion blogging is a part of the business, and when it comes to that, there is no personal aspect to this niche. Are we all working for Anna Wintour here? Ee! Sometimes I get afraid that I'm being judged on these little details (and those horrendous archives--imagine who I was is who people think I am now), but we also must let go of our frets here. The people are also really friendly, who are mostly doing this for the joy, too. I've found a large warm acceptance, even though I have made all the mistakes. The people are wonderful--that is something somewhat difficult in finding to learn in this world.

What impact do you think blogging will have on business? -- First, I think that companies will become more blog-friendly with affiliate programs. Just today, I had an imagination that an online store could have a link to "Blog this!" just like something Blogger has now. Wouldn't that be neat?

For companies making their own blogs to help to improve business, I think they need to make the blogs and bloggers more real, chatty---but of course keep everything professional (you'd be surprised). Blogs are so easy to set up and maintain, at an amateur level, that even companies set them up at amateur levels! I don't want that ease to stop, of course, but I'd like to see people take this publishing more seriously (I've always been into ultra-professionalism). We need bloggers to be writers and editors, in addition to opinionists. That's a personal gripe, but it will help bloggers make the transition to pro and help blogs look better in the eyes of the public and the corporate top.

To be continued... Stay tuned as tomorrow we'll find out why Designer Ella finds today's celebrities "disgusting"...
