Today we continue our exclusive interview with Zoe Hong, soon-to-be famous designer and overall funny gal. If you missed the first part, you can read it here...
Where do you find inspiration?
Oh, I really hate this question. I don't know. Random places and things. The way my cutters look with all their mis-matched layers. Photos of old-school redneck truckers. A particular combination of colors and the attitude it evokes. Dvorak. Camus. I'm also inspired by things I can't stand; saccharine femininity, tangled wires, opaque nude hose.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to other aspiring designers?
I don't really feel qualified to answer this question. I wouldn't want to point them in the wrong direction.
What have you learned about blogging about your business?
The most important thing I've learned for myself is that I'm not a blogger, I'm a fashion designer who happens to blog. There's a distinction there, and I'm careful not to cross that line.
What impact do you think blogging will have on business?
Since I don't talk about the company I work for in my blog, and I don't have my own company yet, not much, really. I think that the conversations that happen on my blog and the people I've met in the blogosphere have enriched my life in general, and a happy Zoe = a productive Zoe.
Thank you, Zoe!
