
I'm sure that we can all agree that in the fashion retail business, there must be a strong partnership between all levels of the distribution chain in order for a business to succeed. Fashion houses and retailers depend on the manufacturers and distributors to deliver their product on time for the next fashion season. If one of these links fails in the process, it can dramatically affect business.
One of the business fundamentals that I try to teach at one of my other blogs is recognition and the simple act of saying "Thank You". In the fast-paced world of business we can easily get caught up, lose sight of what's important and take others for granted - especially other businesses who help us become who we are. This brings us to JCPenney and how the company recently presented Pacer International with "Supply Chain Provider of the Year" award. Recognizing those people and companies who help ensure your success can be gratifying for both the giver and the receiver. It solidifies the bond of business and creates good will, which in turn boosts productivity.
Never underestimate the power of recognition. Whether you're a fashion executive or the person adding buttons to a blouse - everybody needs recognition.
