It's been awhile since I've watched What Not To Wear, so I took a
break from my hectic life to engage in mindless TV watching. But what started out as "just watching another fashion show" turned into some deep thinking about the confines we place ourselves in when we start to listen to other people's opinion of "what not to wear".
Granted, I do think that the people who are made over on the show do look fabulous afterwards. In fact, they probably look one hundred times better than they did before the show. However, the show is called "What Not To Wear" and how can you tell someone what they can or cannot wear? What if they're comfortable just wearing a t-shirt and cut-off shorts every day? So what if they want to wear tie-dye and it was "so last season"? (Which, by the way, I'm wearing right now as I type this...)
And yes, I am working on my own prejudices and judgments....

My Bible!!!
We (I do it on Kiss Me Stace, ahem, it's named after Stacy) can tell people what not to wear because the show is NOT at ALL about trends. It's about the shapes, patterns and sizes correct for the individual body, et cetera. It helps people to truly look good.
These people agree to go on the show, or else they would not even be on television for us to see how bad they look (aside from one person depicted in a special, who must have consented, as per the T.V. rules).
They always feel 100% times better about themselves and how they look. They get better self esteem.
How is this bad in any way??
