Well, it was announced today...Diane von Furstenberg is to lead the CFDA. She will be taking the place of Stan Herman, who will retire from the position in October after 16 years with the Council.
Diane von Furstenberg has been a member of the organization for almost three decades and won the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award last year. Joining her will be new members to the Board of Directors to include Francisco Costa, the Calvin Klein Womenswear Designer; Isabel Toledo who has been with the CFDA for four years; and Leigh Bantivoglio, a member since 2000.
“We are pleased to have as our president a person who is not only such a gifted designer, but has contributed so much to the cause of American fashion over the years,” said CFDA executive director Steven Kolb. “In Diane’s years on the board and involvement in the executive committee, she has displayed exemplary service and dedication to the CFDA and its members, and her active involvement in the growth of this organization over the years has helped to make it what it is today. I look forward to working with her as we meet our current goals and define new ones.”1
