Did you know that New York and Company (aka NY & Co) has been 
around since 1918? It may not sound like a big deal, but in an industry where companies come and go, it's certainly an accomplishment. Upon learning this I thought, Hmmm, maybe this could be a company that I could invest in. I checked out their stock (NWY) and noticed that it has dropped in the past couple years from about $20 in Sep 2004 to around $10 now. According to this article, the company's net sales for the five-week period ending July 1, 2006 increased 3.1 percent.
What I like about NY & Co is that they have quality work clothing at very inexpensive prices. Plus, they have really good sales. The stores are clean, have good displays, and aren't packed full of clothing. You also get decent service from women who aren't pretentious. That's just my experience...
