As if robotic receptionists weren't enough, think about robotic sewing machines. Impossible, you ask? Well, according to a group of folks behind Project Leapfrog, it could be possible. Thanks to Kathleen of Fashion Incubator for pointing this out and I echo her sentiments:
"Robotic sewing arms buzzing around a vacuum expandable mannequin like spot-welding machines in car factories? This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of. Assuming it were ever possible to make something as simple as a modified tee shirt -something that didn't need stitching, turning and then stitching again- on a vacuum powered dress form, just how would this represent sufficient cost savings to justify its development? I don't see it."
I can just picture this machine going haywire - then who will do the manufacturing? If you cut humans out of the process, you'll have many jobless people out there....But will it get to that point?

But what about would be startup designers who have a penny for a machine but can't sew?
