The biggest Nordstrom sale of the year began yesterday and as a
former employee I am happy to say that I'm glad that I don't have to undergo the stress that comes with preparing for this sale! This time I get to enjoy the sale as a customer ;)
A friend asked me once if the sale is just hype or is it really that good. Well, considering Nordstrom only has three big sales during the year, it's definitely a chance to get fall clothing at a fraction of the price. For Nordstrom fans, yes, it is a big deal. For employees, yes, it is a big deal because of the big commissions involved. For ex employees, yes, because one doesn't have to deal with frantic customers who are ready and willing to fight with other customers for a shoe.
It's a shoe, for goodness sake!
We have people in so-called "Third World" countries that don't know where their next meal is coming from and then we have people in the U.S. ready to go to combat over a shoe.
What's wrong with this picture?
Just some food for thought.

after a lunch time jaunt to nordstrom on friday, i decided to just shop online. it's just too crazy out there.
