After only three years in business, Procter and Gamble plans to close
Rochas, the fashion label it bought from Wella, the cosmetics company. I wasn't aware that Procter and Gamble owned Rochas, but if I had been an advisor to the company, I would have told the execs not to make the purchase. Procter and Gamble is a company that specializes in consumer goods like batteries and detergent. Those industries are much different than fashion. It would be like assigning President Bush to become CEO of Louis Vuitton! (Ok, maybe that was an extreme example, but you get the picture!) Francine Gingras, a Procter spokesperson, told The New York Times that "it did not have the resources or skills required to continue producing ready-to-wear".
