With the recent acquisition of J. Jill, Talbots is looking to increase the
number of stores from the current 240 to 500 by the end of this year. Talbots and J. Jill target women ages 35 years and older in a high income bracket. The company also plans to open another 50 stores that sell petite clothing. A smart move considering department stores like Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's have cut down their petite departments. Talbots seems to be a pretty stable company and I can only see them being successful in their pursuits. The company currently operates in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
