Here's a case where a little bad press has helped the company. As Designer Ella points out, Crocs have been a hot topic in the blogosphere as of late as people are wondering what could possibly be so great about a pair of plastic clogs. I talked about them here before and ever since then I've been seeing more and more of these colorful creatures on the feet of many. I think they look cute on little girls or perhaps old women working in their garden, but hey, who am I to judge what you want to wear?
I will share here the perspective of a person who sells Crocs:
"And here I am, thrilled at the increase in sales that will result in a healthy bonus for me come the end of the quarter, and torn by the abject horror that is the social experiment of fad footwear and the short-comings of human nature on the part of the consumers that drive this market. I have said more than once, that what I like about Crocs is: that they bring people into the store that would otherwise have never come in. What I hate about Crocs is: that they bring people into the store that would otherwise have never come in. I have witnessed the lowest-common-denominator and my faith in humanity is forever shaken, only slightly redeemed by the two little girls that came in having saved their money over the past two months by doing household chores for their mother after her refusal to indulge them in something as arbitrary as foam footwear."
We are such a funny world sometimes...to get so excited about a piece of plastic.
