Julie of Almost Girl has a thought-provoking post about our culture and what I call "Me Too" people. You know the ones - the people who have to have what all the "It" girls or guys have, the people who watch MTV, BET, Buy-This-Thing-You-Don't-Need-TV all day, every day; the people who name drop..."My sister's cousin's uncle's best friend married This Star."
Yes, you know these type of people. Although I try to stay away from labeling or judging people, but all that comes to mind is the word "Pretentious" when I think of them.
Here's a noteworthy line from Julie's post:
"If what you are doing to be “it” doesn’t involve contribution to the culture then you simply won’t ever be “it.” EVER! The respect just won’t be there, and nor should it be."
I'll leave you with a quote from one of my favorite people, Tony Robbins:
"Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfillment."
