Agathe over at Style Bytes has a post on Fashion and Acceptance which has spurred some of my thoughts and feelings on the subject, so I thought I’d extend the conversation over here at my blog...
I know that I have to deal with my own judgments about how other people dress and what they decide to spend their money on. If you want to spend $100 for a t-shirt who am I to say that is bad. If you’ve got the money and you love the item...why not? My only issue with that is if you go and buy the shirt, but only end up wearing it once and forget about it. Believe me, there are women out there who do this! If that’s the case, why not spend $10 for a t-shirt and give the other $90 to charity?
I like Agathe’s closing thoughts:
“I don’t let negative comments get to me anymore. I dare more than I used to when it comes to trying new things. I feel more secure in my own style. I’ve kind of come to the conclusion that I can’t care about what people on the street think about what I’m wearing. It’s my life and I love fashion.”
Too often we let negative comments seep into our brains and let them bring us down. That’s probably one of the reasons why many of us follow the crowds. We can’t take that risk and stand up for own identity. We’d just rather do what everyone else does to play safe and avoid any criticism. But who knows, that little risk you take may just be the next best trend. Who’s the IT girl now, you ask!
So big hug to Agathe and all of you who love, accept yourselves, and think outside the box...

that was a great closing once again. A pox to all the shallow twats who judge people by the way they dress! :-)
