I’ve been studying the stock market these days, mainly retail apparel companies, to see what company or companies I can start investing in. I’ve been more into real estate investments for the past several years, but ever since I started blogging about fashion I’ve taken a keen interest in retail stocks. It’s such a cyclical, topsy-turvy industry and will require quite a bit of risk taking, but I’m determined to cash in and have some fun while I’m at it...
Being a fan of fashion accessories, I took a look at the stock of Claire’s
Stores, Inc.(CLE). For the past four years it looks like the company’s stock has increased every year. With the popularity of accessories for cell phones, iPods, and such, I’m assuming the company is cashing in on these fads - not to mention that the demand for fashion accessories in general has increased as well.
However, I do believe that more and more people are looking to indie designers for accessories as well. As big corporations start to fail their customer with the lack of customer service and relationship building, indie designers are stepping in to take care of these people. Not saying that Claire’s is bound for doom because they are one of these big companies - as far as I know they have good service. I just have a feeling that consumers are going to start looking for companies who really value their business - because they’ve already started...
So, will Claire’s stay on that positive slope? It’ll be interesting to watch...
