Susie of Style Bubble has a thought-provoking post on the subject of fashion enthusiasts and prententiousness. Some people may look at those who dress more fashionable as vain or shallow. There’s a good thread there and it will make you question your own attitudes towards fashion and also your attitude towards others who may dress differently than you.
If you’re making judgments based on what a magazine a person is reading or wearing, it’s YOU who has a problem, not that person. You don’t know that person. For all you know, that fashion diva standing there in her Chanel shoes and fashion forward outfit could be the founder of a nonprofit company that gives millions of dollars to the needy. She could be highly educated and have the attitude of Mother Theresa. Bottom line: we shouldn’t be making judgments about people based on how they look.
On the other hand, there are people who are consumed with fashion and do have that attitude of “superiority”. To that I say, “Oh, well, that’s their life.” and go on in my merry little way.
