I came across this article about American Apparel and apparently Dov Charney, the company's owner is a "freewheeler" when it comes to using sex to sell his products and having a "sexually charged" work environment:
Charney feels free to engage in consensual relationships with his staff. He decorates his stores with shots of the sexy but non-professional models he uses in his ad campaigns; and in some stores vintage sex magazines are used as design elements. He sometimes uses foul language at work and doesn't mind if some of his employees do too.
Charney's carefree lifestyle has led to some embarrasing publicity
including sexual harassment suits and a fashion magazine reporter publishing intimate details about his life. "I think it's about employees that are trying to take advantage of American Apparel and the success of our company to enrich themselves, and I feel these women have contrived their claims," Charney said. On a business note he says, "I think we're gonna build a great company. … We want to compete on the merits, and we believe in what we're doing, and we want to build the best apparel company that ever was in America."
