India has reported a surge in textile and clothing exports - an increase of 21.8 percent. The country's textile and clothing exports to USA and the European Union increased by 26% and 18% respectively in 2005. Even though China is still the largest textile exporter to the U.S., its market share is going down, according to this article. Importers are looking to decrease their dependence on China and are looking to India to fill their needs. The main markets for Indian textiles and clothing are USA, UAE, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Canada, Bangladesh and Japan.
