
I read this article over at The New York Times and shake my head. It seems that the fashion industry is now programming our kids to be label-conscious at a very young age - try ages 4-9. Here’s a quote from the article from a third grader living in New York: “I’m very particular. Sevens are the only jeans I actually wear.” Since when did third graders know anything about Seven jeans?
I think we’re treading on dangerous territory here. I can just picture these kids now growing up thinking that they won’t be anything if they can’t wear a particular brand of clothing. They grow up becoming shopaholics and turn into fashion snobs - if their parents allow them to.
