How do you shop? Do you shop by size or fit? Are you insisting that you fit into that size 6 when in actuality the size 10 fits better? Please don’t tell me that the latter is the case. It wasn’t until I started shopping at Gap did I realize that ok, every brand is different when it comes to sizing. I could be a size 2 at Gap and walk over to Bebe and be size 6. For me that can be frustrating because I don’t like to try on three different sizes just to get the right fit. I just want to go in and know that the size 6 will fit. Ha. Welcome to the real world, Maria.
Well, recently Talbot’s conducted a fit survey of 2,200 women ages 35
-65. This is what they found (taken from this news article):
-
Eighty-five percent of women determine whether something fits based on the size tag rather than appearance.
- Sixty-two percent of women surveyed said they consider items only in their specific size.
- Ninety-four percent of the women surveyed do not wear all of their clothes on a regular basis.
- Forty percent admitted to buying clothes they planned to fit into when they lose weight
- 33 percent have clothes in their closet that are too small
- 36 percent own unworn apparel that needs to be tailored.
I would fall in the category of not wearing all my clothes on a regular basis. However, I did recently conduct an inventory of my closet and got rid of a bunch of clothing I haven’t worn in the past six months.
Are you guilty of any of this?
