For many years now music has influenced fashion and vice versa. A musical artist has to look good, of course, and designers love to have celebrity muses to model their goods. It’s a match made in Heaven.
For designer Marc Jacobs, music is a driving force in his fashion designs. One of MJ’s influences is Rufus Wainwright and in Fashion Rocks Marc is quoted as saying, “I listen to music constantly when I
work. The mood and stylistic choices inspire me and are absorbed in whatever I’m working on.”
We’re also seeing more and more artists coming out with their own clothing lines. Recently I discovered that Justin Timberlake is coming out with his own line - which is fine, but it would make for an even more interesting story if an artist came out with say, a new vacuum model...ha ha! (Ok, I got little sleep last night)
Music definitely gives me the creative energy that I need when I’m either painting or making jewelry. Depending on my mood I’ll listen to everything from Mariah Carey, The Beatles, to Faith Hill and Outkast. Also, what music artists wear oftentimes inspire and spark creativity in my designs.
What music inspires your designs or what you wear?

Honestly… I remain faithful to MJ’s idea that indifference kills. So I try to combine calm music with a faster one. That’s Boney NeM!
