This weekend it will be official - Macy’s will be taking over malls all across the U.S. As if one overcrowded department store is enough, now you will have the joy (or not) of shopping in two overcrowded department stores at the mall nearest you. Federated Department Stores (FD) is launching a new advertising campaign that will cost about $100 million to let customers know that Macy’s will be "wherever you are".
I like to shop at Macy’s - especially during their sales. However, sometimes some stores tend to overstuff their racks and their customer service is so-so. I do like that their employees come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. In other words, the company caters to everybody.
Only time will tell whether or not the company will succeed to increase their market share.

Here there have been Macy's at most malls for years. We have four department stores at every mall, too, except for the ones where Filene's closed and another one is moving in to take its spot (Nordstrom at one of my frequents, Neiman's at another).
Macy's just merged with Filene's, so the malls that had both, the Filene's had to close. Most malls had both. All of the middle-nice ones had both, the lower ones just had Filene's, so that is their place now. That's sad, some Macy's should have closed. But I see now they want to be at every mall. I thought they were only on the East coast!
