Blog Discoveries, Tim Gunn Interview, and The Reality of the Business
Thanks to Shallow & Tacky I got my laughs for the day and discovered the Project RunGay blog and an interview with Tim Gunn at Fashion Week.  The first question and answer is:

Oh wise sage, how is this attention treating you?
I’m having the best time of my whole life. I’m loving every second of it, because I’ve realized it can go away as abruptly as it arrived. And it will!  Read more of the interview...

That’s the reality of the business – one moment we can be “in” and the next moment we’re “out”.  The fashion industry is ever-evolving and one must be susceptible to change in order to survive in this industry.  Well, I guess most artists are very open to change.  I know I thrive on it.

However, the big question is:  Are you innovative?

Are you aware of a company that is planning to offer high-end jeans and accessories under the name of Lyric Culture? They have signed licensing agreements with Universal Music Publishing, Warner/Chappell Music and peermusic (the largest independent publisher of Latin music), to offer the song lyrics of recordings of renown artists from the respective publishers. Their manufacturing partner is American Garment Sewing. What is your take on this (new/unique) fashion trend that they are proposing? Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Hi Q-reus,

I wasn't aware of this new brand of jeans, however, I do encourage and support emerging artists that have a passion for what they do and truly believe in themselves.

Is this the same company with the website
http://www.lyricjeans.com? It's a unique idea - jeans have always been a great canvas to create!

Thanks for the reply, Maria.
Yes, that is the company. I am seeking opinions and attitudes from members and browsers of this site about the chances of success for such a venture; considering the numbers of loyal fans that many of the artists of the given publishers have following their every move and new recording release. ...and let's not leave out the songs of yesteryear. Fashion model / co-host (tv show Rockstar: Supernova) Brooke Burke wore a Lyric Culture leather wrap mini-skirt, on an Aug. 23rd show, which featured the lyrics of the Beatles song: Let it Be. Singer Kelly Clarkson gave the command "Gentlmen, Start Your Engines," during a Labor Day NASCAR event while wearing a Lyric Culture - American Pie T-shirt. Nice early exposure, considering the company has not launched full production yet. By the way, the pricing for the t-shirts start around $75 and jeans in the $150 & up. One last thing to consider is the variety of music genres that will be covered; Rock/Roll, R/B, Country/Western, Gospel, New Age, etc., and that's just focusing on the U.S. market. The earlier mentioned music publishers have a base that covers the globe. Do you, or anyone else, think this company has a chance? Opinions??? Please don't construe this post as spam, for I am truly interested in the potential dialogue. Thanks, again.

Hi Q-reus,

I've made a post to see if anybody will offer their opinion:
