I’m a firm believer that the clothing you wear and how you accessorize yourself can tell alot about you. Are you fun? Adventurous? Granted there are some days when you just want to bum it and wear nothing too exciting. Today I’m blogging in a little coffee shop in the Little Italy of downtown San Diego - wearing a pair of jeans, a light blue halter top, and gold thong sandals (I won’t mention brands because they’re not paying me to endorse them! Ha!) Not too much of an exciting story to tell - but a story nonetheless.
But what if you’re a fashion designer or clothing company...Do you have a story to tell? What’s the inspiration for your designs? How are you going to get people to buy your clothing? How do you plan on surviving in this fast-growing industry? These are questions you want to ask yourself...If you watch Project Runway you’ll notice that the judges will often ask what the story is behind an outfit. Is there a method, meaning, or driving force behind what you do?
If you look at Vera Wang’s show at Fashion Week, you can see that she had a story to tell. My impression of it was a story of a free-spirited geisha girl who was searching for a more colorful, happy life. Marc Jacobs told a story of an urban rebel who has an appreciation of glitz and glamour.
There is power in stories....what's yours?

Maria, you are so right! Stories convey passion; they give substance to the clothing, to the person. Thanks!
