These are the words of writer Elizabeth Snead of The Envelope in her article More Model Meat. According to Snead, a University of Bath study was conducted in which they found that the majority of women surveyed actually prefer ads which show skinny models versus “normal” women. I put “normal” in quotes because I don’t believe there is such a thing as “normal” people. It’s such a subjective word.
Anyways, who did they survey for this study? All skinny women? Models? Yes, I’m quite shocked about the results of this study as well - if indeed it is a legitimate study.
Oh, and a FYI, India’s health minister announced that he doesn’t want skinny models cat walking down the runways in India as well.
Although I think that skinny models project an idea that women should be thin to look good, at the same time I don’t think we should actually discriminate against them. I think that we can embrace all models no matter what their size. What’s wrong with having a runway show that had models of all different sizes? Wouldn't that appeal to more people?

I totally agree with you... Models should be a variety of different heights and sizes.
I always wanted to be a model, but I am not super skinny and I'm actually quite short. (5'3") They don't want people like me for models.
They should really consider broadening their horizons a bit....
