People in California, from what I know, aren’t that saddened by Macy’s taking over Robinson’s May. To me they were about the same in terms of customer service and product offerings. I’m not really sure what the big deal is about Macy’s taking over Marshall Field’s, so I did some checking around and found quite a few opinions regarding the “takeover”. Andy Martin of Political Gateway probably says it best.
Some people wonder why Macy’s can’t just keep the name “Marshall Field’s”. I don’t know what difference that would make – it’s still going to be owned by Macy’s!
i've lived in chicago for 5 years and i can understand why. marshall fields is grand old department store that predates macys. it's an institution itself. there is brand loyalty. it's like changing harrods' name to macys and finding everything in it as generic as macys.
