Abercrombie's General Manager Leaves and Why So Much?

I read this little news brief about Abercrombie & Fitch’s (ANF) general manager of the flagship apparel chain has left the company.  Thomas Mendenhall came to A & F from the Gucci Group back in 2004 and after only two years has decided that it’s just not for him.  The reason for his leaving wasn’t reported, but this website reported that he will receive a severance package equal to one year’s salary and bonus...and get this - his yearly salary was over $700K and his bonus is also over $700K.  Heck, why not just retire? abercrombie_fitch.png

I don’t mean to hate, but I think it’s crazy for a person to get this much.  Why not take some of that money and invest in the “little people” - those hard-working salespeople who are actually making the money for the company?
