Ebay Sued by LVMH and Tips When Shopping on Ebay

The counterfeit saga continues... According to BusinessWeek, LVMH alleges that 90% of Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior items listed on eBay are fakes. A couple weeks ago the company filed a lawsuit in Paris against the big online auction website and of course eBay is saying that the suit is “without merit”. I don’t doubt that most of the items on eBay are fakes. I’ve been a victim myself and spent some time watching the handbag auctions. It did seem that many of the sellers were selling fakes.

The Budget Fashionista offers some tips when shopping on eBay:

-Ask the person if they would send you the serial number, so that you can contact the company to make sure it's authentic.
-Ask for a clear photo of the tags and cards and then head into a store to compare them to the real things.
- Now if the person has the receipt of purchase from the store they bought it from and it willing to copy it and send it to you via email before you bid, then I would celebrate.
