Fashion Censorship in Iran
Gawker has an interesting piece on censorship in Iran.  It's interesting how government officials actually sit down and go through every page of fashion magazines and black out knees, breasts, and anything that is deemed too revealing.  For background on my thoughts and experience on fashion in the Middle East, you may want to read a previous post.Demi Moore Versace Ad in Iran.jpg

The black ink is artfully applied on the glossies and actually makes for an interesting and refreshing piece.  Like this Versace ad with Demi Moore.  Now why was the knee covered but not the legs?

Gawker also points to Jonathan Lundqvist, a student at Stockholm University who shares pictures from different magazines.  What Jonathan finds interesting is that the pictures are censored, but the text is not.
